Job Description Summary:

This position involves instructing one course, ED 321 Educating Exceptional Students. Applicants should have a strong background in special education with an awareness of current issues in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • adapting syllabus
  • preparing classes from a syllabus
  • modeling a variety of instructional strategies
  • providing current updates in Special Education
  • administering and interpreting assessments -providing feedback to students
using CANVAS, the learning management system
  • recording and submitting grades
  • coordinating with the faculty of the Teacher Education program, as needed
  • Effectively communicate with students and other faculty
  • Mastery of appropriate computer operation skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education and at least five years of teaching special education students required
  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field preferred
  • Special Education Certification preferred

Physical Requirements:

- Exhibit emotional control and stability
- Ascend and descend steps, inclines
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to twenty pounds
- Sit or stand for extended periods to time
- Bend, kneel, reach
- Operate a copier, printer, television, and projector
