Under the direction of the Dean of the John G. Rangos, Sr. School of Health Sciences (RSHS), the Director of Enrollment Management will be responsible for student recruitment, admission and enrollment within the RSHS. The individual will create and pursues strategies to attract a well-qualified, diverse pool of undergraduate and graduate students to the University and the School. The self-starter will work closely with University and School/Department staff to develop and implement an academically-specific strategic recruitment plan to complement University-wide and School-specific marketing and recruitment initiatives with a strong emphasis on campus visit and recruitment events and selected in-market engagements. The Director will demonstrate high levels of personalized, customized engagement with prospective students and their families, in addition to excellent internal customer service and data-driven decision making.

COVID-19 Condition of Employment:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ADMISSION AND ENROLLMENT

  • Analyze and share enrollment trends, admission updates and concerns with the Dean and Department Chairs. If concerns exist, serve as an intermediary to problem-solve.
  • Provide Department Chairs with detailed analysis of admissions data (including GPA, test scores, and other relevant information) as well as diversity data of applicants and enrolled students.
  • Meet bi-weekly with the Dean for regular updates on enrollment, admissions and recruitment, and other related areas.
  • Maintain current rosters of enrolled students and manage changes in those rosters in conjunction with Student and Alumni Services.
  • Work with Admissions and the Office of International Programs to manage and effectively secure records and admission of domestic and international undergraduate and graduate and transfer students, including communication to move applications to completion, preparing files for departmental admission consideration, and completion of admissions letters.
  • Attend all appropriate admission and enrollment management meetings on behalf of the School.
  • Coordinate communication and exchange of student information with Articulation Agreement partners and keep Department Chairs informed of enrollment numbers and potential students.

RECRUITMENT

  • Serve as primary point of contact for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to assist in recruitment efforts. This includes electronic communication, phone and in-person meetings, as well as representing the School at relevant fairs and visits to local and regional high schools (including Catholic high schools and high schools that predominantly serve underrepresented students).
  • Plans and facilitates high-impact, academically specific campus visit and selected in-market opportunities for prospective and admitted students, their families, and other stakeholders who influence enrollment.
  • Broaden outreach, engagement, and yield efforts in order to enroll a more diverse student population across all Rangos Departments.
  • Work closely with the Office of Admissions to inform Guidance/College Counselors at individual high schools that provide strong academic preparation about the progression of their graduates in the Rangos academic programs as a means to further recruit more students from such high schools.
  • Coordinate departmental support of Admissions Open Houses and supervise organization of the RSHS Accepted Student Open House, and manage any other appropriate admission-type activities.
  • Analyzes regularly the effectiveness of recruitment and yield activities for the School and recommends new recruitment or yield strategies to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred in higher education administration, communication studies and public administration
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to travel overnight on a periodic basis

Alternately, the successful candidate will possess any equivalent combination or training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Demonstrated leadership and diplomatic skills with the ability to manage several tasks at once in an environment with changing priorities
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written providing the ability to effectively communicate with multiple internal and external constituents
  • Proficiency with PC, Microsoft Office tools, email and the Internet with the ability to learn a variety of new technology systems; familiarity with Slate and Banner preferred
  • Proactive, strategic, analytical and deadline-oriented in a complex organization
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of regular business hours and some weekends during peak enrollment periods
  • Ability to analyze and track confidential data independently in accordance with established policies and procedures and exercise consistent discretion
  • Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies governing the operations of the University
  • Ability to create and maintain complex records and files; Ability to work independently and responsibly
  • Excellent organizational, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Innovative, creative and energetic personality that will recommend and implement new ideas
  • Ability to adhere to all University, Atlantic 10 Conference, NEC and NCAA policies, procedures, rules and regulations
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the University Community
  • Sensitivity to the need of each individual to be treated with dignity and respect as it relates to diversity in general and the Mission of the University specifically
  • Ability and willingness to contribute actively to the mission and to respect the Spiritan Catholic identity of Duquesne University.
