Salary: $35,835

This is a provisional appointment. Successful candidate will be required to complete an Oneida County Civil Service Application for approval; as well as, apply and take the competitive Oneida County exam and be one of the top three candidates.

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time Customer Relations Supervisor in our Business Office. The Customer Relations Supervisor provides support for planning andimplementing customer services activities. The work is performed under general supervision,and in accordance with established objectives, policies and detailed procedures. Considerable leeway is permitted for theexercise of independent judgment in carrying out work assignments. The incumbent may supervise the work of clericalpersonnel. The incumbent does relatedwork as required.

Typical work activities:

  • Oversees thecollection of accounts receivable and overdueaccounts by planning and controlling work flow in accordance with establishedpolicy and procedure;
  • Handles complaints; suggests solutions to problems andconducts correspondence;
  • Reviews andanalyzes delinquent accounts, monthly and quarterly billings, and prepares theinformation needed for the processing of delinquent notices;
  • Makes arrangementswith customers for payment of overdue bills in accordance with establishedpolicy;
  • Prepares,institutes, maintains and administers billing and collection policies,procedures and controls;
  • Performs publicrelations activities relating to collection of accounts and resolutions ofbilling errors and customer complaints;
  • Recommends when accounts should be sent to acollection agency for non-payment;
  • May perform account audits occasionally;
  • Prepares writtencommunications and reports to students which include billing statements,certificate of residence notices, past due statements, and refund checks;
  • May be assigned toprepare special studies and evaluations of various billings and collectionactivities;
  • Supervises billingand collection of tuition and fees, retiree insurancepayments, vendor payments, other miscellaneous payments to the college;
  • Consults withmanagement on customer service and various accounts receivable matters.

Qualifications:

Full performance knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics: Thorough knowledge of modern office terminology, procedures, and equipment; thorough knowledge of business arithmetic and English; good knowledge of modern methods used in collecting and controlling delinquent accounts; good knowledge of office practices; ability to develop and install efficient office methods and procedures; ability to understand and interpret written material; ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; ability to maintain accurate office records and prepare comprehensive reports; ability to secure the cooperation of others; ability to deal effectively with the public; demonstrated awareness of the importance of consumer relations; clerical aptitude; good judgment in solving consumer problems; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:Either:

(A)Graduationfrom a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year collegeor university with a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration or publicmanagement, accounting, economics, or a closely related field and one (1) yearof experience involving the billing and collection of accounts and relatedrecord keeping activities; OR

(B)Graduation from a regionally accredited or a New YorkState registered college with an Associate’s Degree in business administrationor public management, accounting, economics, or a closely related field and three(3) years of experience as listed in (A) above; OR

(C)Graduationfrom high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five(5) years of experience as listed in (A) above; OR

(D)Anequivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) through (C) above.
