The University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, Department of Neurology invites applications from exceptional candidates at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor to expand its clinical, educational and research programs in the Neuro-Oncology section. This is a full-time faculty position offering. Initial rank is based upon knowledge, achievement, and experience, and with the opportunity for academic promotion based upon demonstrated, ongoing excellence in education, research, clinical care, and community service.

Section

The Neuro-Oncology Section provides outpatient care to patients in the Anschutz Cancer Pavilion and inpatient consultations at the University of Colorado Hospital, Anschutz Medical Campus. Neuro-Oncology faculty contribute to multiple administrative, quality and leadership roles in the hospital, department, and school. The section currently has 2 physician faculty, and one Neuro-Oncology fellows as well as professional support staff.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Clinical duties

  • Acute and chronic outpatient care of Neuro-Oncology patients including administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, disease-modifying therapy, and health maintenance care.
  • Monitor patients for adverse events related to therapeutics.
  • Inpatient consultations for acute or chronic Neuro-Oncology patients in the neurodiagnostics monitoring unit, daily progress notes with attendant documentation for these consults.
  • Incumbent is expected to become proficient in lumbar punctures and Ommaya punctures with instilation of chemotherapy.
  • Participation in clinical trials with expectation with completing and maintaining research trainings.
 

Educational activities

    Supervise medical students, residents, and fellows in clinics and in the hospital setting.Provide supervision and training for advance practice providers.Attend neurology lectures and teaching conferences.Train medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Support, share, and engage in continual learning and development among nursing staff, other faculty and advanced practice providers, pharmacy staff, medical students, and neurology residents and fellows. 
  • Periodic presentation of lectures to patients and others regarding neurological conditions and treatments.
 

Administrative responsibilities

  • Serve as first contact for clinician level patient communications.
  • Data entry into hospital systems, committee work and projects aimed at improving the specialty and department mission.
  • Attendance at meetings and educational events of the department and specialty programs is expected.
  • Ongoing CME is required.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at:

Assistant Professor: $160,000 - $190,000

Associate Professor: $190,000 to $200,000

Professor: $200,000-$230,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    Board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).Certified or eligible for certification in Neuro-Oncology with the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS).Eligible to obtain an unrestricted Colorado medical license, and an active and unrestricted DEA Registration.
Associate Professor

    Board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).Certified or eligible for certification in Neuro-Oncology with the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS).Eligible to obtain an unrestricted Colorado medical license, and an active and unrestricted DEA Registration.
Professor

    Board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).Certified or eligible for certification in Neuro-Oncology with the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS).Eligible to obtain an unrestricted Colorado medical license, and an active and unrestricted DEA Registration.

Preferred Qualifications but not required:

    Completed fellowship training in Neuro-Oncology.A record of previous scholarship and research is highly desirable.Additional specialty/subspecialty board certifications/eligibility.
