Description:

Tulane University School of Medicine, the John W Deming Department of Medicine, Section of General Internal Medicine (GIM) and Geriatrics is seeking a board-certified clinician-investigator with scholarly expertise in the area of primary care to include research in health disparities, population health, and community health for the Jack Aron Chair in Primary Care Medicine.  We are specifically recruiting for an experienced and mission-driven leader with significant primary care related scholarship and ability to develop and foster research in this area, with a goal of improving the access and quality of primary care in Louisiana and the nation.

For Tulane and its’ faculty, this is an exciting and unparalleled opportunity to participate in the growth and expansion of Tulane’s medical services in New Orleans!  University Medical Center (UMC) has opened a 412 bed hospital in August 2015, and the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System (SLVHC) opened its new 200 bed hospital facility in the winter of 2016.  Both the UMC and SLVHCS hospitals will serve as key clinical practice sites for our faculty.  Tulane boasts a top-ranked School of Public Health, an actively productive research Center of Aging, and is a major participating partner in the Louisiana Cancer Research Center, all located within in immediate proximity to the downtown School of Medicine and our three affiliated hospitals.  Partial salary support through the endowed chair funds will be provided to qualified candidates. Qualifications:
  • Medical or Osteopathic Degree required.
  • Board certification/board eligibility in Internal Medicine.
  • Eligible for medical license in the state of Louisiana as well as CDS and DEA required.
  • Ability to work as part of a professional team and to collaborate effectively with individuals within the University as well as with outside contractors.
  • Ability to employ process and quality improvement techniques
  • Skill in the understanding of, and sensitivity to, persons of all social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
