Department Information

Situated in the College of Education, the Department of Educational Technology and Foundations offers graduate degrees in instructional design and technology and school library media through robust online programs serving candidates in the state of Georgia and beyond. The College of Education is doctoral-granting and SACS-accredited, preparing graduates for professional careers in three dynamic areas of focus: Teaching, Leadership, and Wellness.

The Department of Educational Technology seeks qualified candidates for a tenure track faculty position of Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology. Responsibilities include teaching in the online M.Ed., Ed.S., and non-degree programs in instructional design, instructional technology, and online teaching, and engaging in applied research and service activities.

Job Summary

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assume a range of responsibilities including teaching online graduate courses in instructional technology; participating in service to the department, college, institution, and field; advising students; and conducting research. At UWG, teaching accounts for approximately 60% of faculty productivity; research 20% and service 20%.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirement:

  • Earned doctorate with emphasis in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or closely related field (exceptional ABD candidates will be considered);

Experience Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of learning theories, instructional design, technology integration, and distance learning;
  • Demonstrated ability to build and teach courses in hybrid and fully online environments;
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity in education technology including published articles, presentations, and/or grants, and a developing research/publication agenda; and
  • Demonstrated innovative uses of technology to enhance teaching and learning
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with PK-12 education and the professional development issues of teachers, media specialists, and instructional technology stakeholders;
  • Experience working with adult learners and familiarity with adult learning theories;
  • Experience teaching and/or advising graduate students
  • Interest in working with emerging technologies; and
  • Willingness to take leadership roles in state, regional, national and international professional organizations
