Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Applications, the Business Systems Analyst – Student Enrollment Systems supports the functional areas of, Admissions, Financial Aid and Registrar and provides maintenance of the College’s Student Information System and Customer Relationship Management System that supports the strategic enrollment management functions of the Financial Aid, Registration, Admissions, and other related offices.

Responsibilities/Duties

Essential Duties

  • Works with the Vice President for Student Affairs to ensure optimal IT functionality for the systems such as Banner (Recruit) and other related enrollment management IT systems.
  • Responsible for working with the Director for the identification, design, and implementation of improvements to the College’s student information systems and related processes.
  • Responsible for support and improvements to integrations between the College’s ERP, Student Information Systems, and third-party applications.
  • Collaborates with external departments to aid in achieving operational objectives by studying business functions and promoting operational efficiencies using technology.
  • Participates in and sometimes lead data migration projects and systems integration projects.
  • Develops strategies to constantly improve the integrity of data in the ERP system. This includes the development of reports and statistics to monitor data integrity.
  • Provides “tier-two” support for ERP related issues.
  • Monitors and participates in relevant listservs, training opportunities, user groups, publications, and professional groups to maintain a strong knowledge of developments in the fields of Student Information, Financial Aid and other related student information systems management and administration.
  • Perform complex technical work related to analyzing and resolving problems with the Student Information Systems as they occur and in playing a key role in the testing documentation, and training of business processes related to financial aid, registration and admission.
  • Supports the Enrollment Management team on the programming of financial aid systems and software for importing, budgeting, tracking, verification, and communications management of student records and data.
  • Completes necessary research and analysis to communicate with Enrollment Management staff of configuration requirements needed for compliance with policies and regulations
  • Supports the effort to prepare training on application functionality.
  • Assists in the compiling and preparing statistical data according to State and Federal regulations, policies and guidelines, application processing and eligibility requirements.
  • Assists in the review and maintains student records to ensure continued eligibility, evaluates the academic status of each applicant; and monitors withdraws.
  • Works closely with Financial Aid staff in configuring and testing the annual new year roll setup, Student Information System upgrades, and related system changes as well as current and forthcoming software from the Department of Education and Maryland Higher Education Commission for monitoring, processing, and reporting of grants, scholarships, loans, and other sources of financial assistance
  • Keeps abreast of current federal regulations and guidelines pertaining to the student financial aid program.
  • Provides training on application functionality.
  • Some evening and weekend hours are required for configuration changes and end-user support.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience with Higher Education Enterprise Resource Planning applications.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and/or vendors for implementation of software applications.
  • Demonstrated experience with C, COBOL, PL/SQL, MySQL, SQL and software design and documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience with the Software Development Life Cycle Process (Including Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies), capturing software requirements, software maintenance and promoting process improvement.
  • Must be a proven problem solver, strategic planner, have excellent oral & written communication skills and is capable of data transformation and analysis.
  • Growth mindset, persistent in the face of obstacles and embraces challenges.
  • Demonstrated growth experience, showing a consistent track record of taking on new challenges and driving success.
  • Knowledge of student management, financial aid, finance, and human resources in a higher education setting.

  • Skill in collaborating with multiple constituents.
