Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) invites applicants for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Social Work starting August 1, 2022. Applicants should ideally hold a terminal degree in Social Work with at least two years of teaching experience and involvement in the practice of social work. Preference will be given to those with additional background in Sociology, Gerontology, or Human Services. Successful candidates will be expected to develop and teach upper-level courses in a new Social Work concentration, as well as courses in Applied Sociology and/or Gerontology depending on expertise and need, with other related duties as assigned. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, student engagement, research, and service to the college and community. GGC is an access institution that values innovative teaching, advising, and mentoring (advising and mentoring are expected of all faculty). In accordance with Board of Regents Policy governing GGC faculty, successful applicants will be eligible to receive 3- or 5-year renewable appointments, or 1-year traditional appointments may also be approved. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing, evaluating, and recommending student learning materials.
  • Evaluating students to measure their progress in achieving institutional and course goals.
  • Creating upper-level courses related to the practice of Social Work.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:Minimum
  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE accredited social work program, with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Social Work.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Additional Ph.D. in Social Work or related discipline.
  • 2 years college level teaching experience.
  • Experience, 2-3 year minimum, in the practice of Social Work.
  • LCSW is encouraged, but not required.
