Position Title:Academic Advisor I (12898) Department:685740 - School of Nursing (Admin) Job Posting Description:

The Academic Advisor is responsible for continuous, conscientious file management, academic advising, and registration of all declared undergraduate and graduate students attempting courses in the School of Nursing (SON).

The Academic Advisor will provide accurate and current curricular information on undergraduate and graduate programs as well as aid with program changes (class drops/additions and major changes) and career plans. The selected candidate will maintain summary data on inquiries, prospective students, applicants, admitted students, enrolled students and inactive students for purposes of keeping the Assistant Deans fully informed of SON enrollment and will work closely with the Director of Student Services to ensure proper workflow is followed.

The Advisor will assist with recruitment and retention efforts for undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as participate in explore academic excellence annual events and other recruitment events as assigned. Additionally, the Academic Advisor will assist and participate in SON commencement activities every fall and spring semester.

The professional responsibilities of this position may necessitate evening hours and occasional weekend hours. The Academic Advisor may be assigned additional duties that support the department’s mission and goals.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

-Master's degree in higher education, and/or counseling, or related field.
-Proficiency in computer record keeping skills, ability to work effectively with high volumes of students, faculty, and administration.
-Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience in academic advising.
