Georgetown University's Division of Student Affairs supports the its academic mission by educating students as whole persons, promoting their intellectual, moral, spiritual, and social formation; enhancing students' learning and helping to prepare them for lives of discernment, civic engagement, and professional growth; teaching personal responsibility and respect for people of all faiths, cultures, and beliefs; promoting the health and safety of students and others in the University community. Its Georgetown Event Management Services (GEMS) provides scheduling and coordination of support services for event facilities and outdoor spaces on Main Campus; and strives to meet the changing needs of students, staff, faculty, alumni and guests with co-curricular spaces that foster collaborative engagement, community dialogue and learning.

The Assistant Director of Georgetown Event Management Services assists with daily operations of the office, and assumes responsibility for operations in the Director's absence. Reporting to the Director of Georgetown Event Management Services, the Assistant Director has duties that include but are not limited to:
  • Supervises the Events Manager, one part-time Graduate Assistant, and student hall managers.
  • Supports the Events Manager in supervision of student summer coordinators and 1-2 Office/scheduling student assistants responsible for data entry into event scheduling database.
  • Hires, trains and supervises student employees.
  • Serves as primary contact for any request related to accessibility for events held in GEMS-managed spaces, including sign language interpretation, accessible routing for mobility needs, assuring access to spaces, and other related requests.
  • Oversees management of formal spaces.
  • Screens user space requests for venue appropriateness and for legitimacy of user groups; and ensures that user is aware of - and complies with - general Georgetown University policies, as well as specific facility policies.
  • Maintains extensive files on all requests, policies, procedures, and correspondence regarding events.
  • Serves as primary contact for all external clients using formal spaces.
  • Manages social media, marketing, and client responsiveness initiatives.
  • Conducts space tours.
  • Conducts training on Virtual EMS Space Management System.
  • Schedules events and coordinates appropriate services for events and conferences in the activities facilities.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience


Preferred qualification

Experience with events management and/or accessibility support
