The Department of Psychiatry, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) are seeking to recruit a Psychiatrist with scholarly achievement. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. The expected start date is as soon as possible.


The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada’s premier addiction and mental health facility and a world leader in the diagnosis and care of patients with addiction and mental disorders, offering a wide spectrum of care, from treatment for first episode to care for the severely and persistently mentally ill. It is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, the largest and most prestigious research-intensive university in Canada. CAMH, together with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, has a strong tradition in the integration of clinical, teaching and research activities.


The primary focus of this position will be to provide psychiatric consultation to geriatric patients over the age of 50 with a focus on late life mood disorders. The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in the clinical and academic inter professional activities of the Department of Psychiatry. Duties include psychiatric consultation and follow up of outpatients, teaching and supervision of medical students and psychiatry residents, and participation in research and other academic activities. Extensive prior experience with an older adult population care is required.

Applicants must be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario and be eligible for appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto.


Compensation will be based on a fee-for-service structure with additional funding through Academic and Educational Trust Funds and/or departmentally sanctioned administrative roles. Remuneration is in accordance with the compensation of a psychiatrist in the province of Ontario (a guaranteed income ranging from $270,000-$330,000 per year with opportunity to earn more based on additional fee for service earnings; 6 weeks of vacation; other benefits not included).
