This is a temporary position with an end date of 08/15/2023.

2. Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Dean of the School of Humanities, Arts, & Design.

3. Position Summary

The School of Humanities, Arts and Design at Chaminade University of Honolulu

is pleased to announce openings for (2) Visiting Assistant Professors of

Environmental +Interior Design. The successful candidate will teach

undergraduate courses in Environmental + Interior Design (“E+ID”) at

Chaminade University of Honolulu. As a faculty member, the Assistant Professor

is expected to participate in curriculum development and assessment,

accreditation, and student related activities, perform all duties professionally and

ethically, and support the policies and mission of the University. Courses

assignments will depend upon availability and may include History of Furniture,

Computer Technologies (such as CAD and/or REVIT), Technical Drawing,

Materiality in Interior Design, Building Systems, Twentieth Century Architecture

and Design, Kitchen and Bath Design, Progress Technologies, etc.

4. Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have earned an MA, M. Arch or D. Arc in Interior Design

or a related field from an accredited university. Applicants who have earned a

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field, with

sufficient work experience/expertise in implementing design principles in

residential and commercial contexts may be considered. NCIDQ credentials are

required by CIDA for studio instruction. Applicants with teaching experience

(online, in-person, and/or hybrid instruction), familiarity with learning

management systems, and proficiency in a variety of design software platforms

are preferred.

5. Technical Skills: Advanced skills in the use of computer software applications

(i.e., Word, Power Point, Excel) and learning management systems (i.e., Canvas)

and the internet. Knowledge and experience in using common office equipment

such as computers, FAX machines, and copiers.

6. Physical Requirements: Must be able to traverse the campus, stoop, bend, climb

stairs, lift approximately 10 – 20 lbs. and have finger dexterity.
