Description of Work:

The Department of Textiles, Merchandising & Fashion Design in the College of Education and Human Sciences is seeking to fill a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice position in Product Development and Communication. This is a full-time, 9-month appointment with a 90% teaching, 10% service apportionment. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning. The successful candidate will possess a broad range of product development and communication skill sets that can include (but would not be limited to): textile science foundations, apparel construction, soft goods branding, fashion communications, entrepreneurship and relevant technologies in the field. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of diverse students including underrepresented minorities. Textiles, Merchandising, & Fashion Design is a dynamic department that embodies the three primary missions of the university, namely teaching, research and service/extension. The department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and is a member of the National Retail Federation, in addition to faculty memberships in academic organizations such as the International Textile and Apparel Association and the American Collegiate Retailing Association. Thus, the innovative and impactful work within the department has tremendous reach with important impacts at local, national, and international levels; and supports the needs of a diverse and inclusive workforce. Ph. D. in Textiles, Merchandising, Fashion Design, Communications, or related fields. Other terminal degrees will also be considered.
