Job Description
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, a comprehensive state university 20 miles from downtown St. Louis, Missouri, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning August 2022. The selected candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching and a capacity to establish independent research in at least one area of mathematics that will produce peer-reviewed products. Duties will include teaching introductory and upper-level courses in statistics and mathematics; mentoring students through senior projects and master’s theses; performing research; and contributing to the department, college, and university through appropriate service activities.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has 15 tenured or tenure-track faculty members and offers undergraduate programs in actuarial science, applied mathematics, mathematics, secondary education, and statistics, and master’s programs in applied and computational mathematics, mathematics, post-secondary mathematics education, and statistics and operations research. Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in statistics or biostatistics, or Ph.D. in a related field such as mathematics, applied mathematics, or mathematical science with academic preparation in statistics or data science. Commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Capacity to establish independent research in at least one area of mathematics that will produce peer-reviewed products. Applicants who are ABD may be considered.

9-month, full-time, tenure-track position beginning August 2022.
