Nature of Work

The Department of Neurosurgery is looking for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to join Dr. Lotta Granholm’s laboratory located at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. The Granholm lab is looking for a motivated and technically gifted Postdoctoral fellow to play a key role in an interdisciplinary project funded by an R01 from the National Institutes on Aging.

The project is a close collaboration with the University of Denver (DU) Concussion Program, which is a multidisciplinary program in the Engineering, Athletics, and Psychology Programs at DU. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to engage in studies investigating the long-term effects of one or multiple concussions (mTBIs) on brain health, studying balance, cognition and blood biomarkers as part of an interdisciplinary and collaborative group of investigators at CU and DU. Preference will be given to individuals with previous experience with neurodegenerative blood or brain biomarkers and/or studies of exosome biology.

Essential Functions

    Play a key role in a funded Concussion project: plan, design and conduct complex experiments, analyze data including statistics, write manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals. Work independently after initial training with minimum supervision.Work closely with laboratory staff and faculty to coordinate and develop research studies.Participate in coordination and execution of interdisciplinary clinical studies.Establish and maintain a research database compatible with national guidelines for TBI research.Work with athletes and trainers at DU and other participating sites.
 

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $53,760-65,292

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

    PhD in neuroscience, cell biology or biology related field.Skilled with data handling, biochemical assays.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Excellent interpersonal skills.Ability to work in a professional manner as both a self-starter and a team member.Strong enthusiasm for science, with published scientific manuscripts and excellent writing skills.Experience with biochemical assays, western blots, clinical studies, and data maintenace are desired.Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, willing to work flexible hours, and willing to work as part of an inter-University team.Proficient with SPSS, JASP, GraphPad or similar statistical package.Must be willing to learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment.Must be able to drive and finish projects independently.
