Academic Success Coach
Job Description:The Academic Success Coach is a member of the Center for Academic Success and Engagement (CASE) team and promotes Marian University’s Catholic mission and identity by providing academic success coaching to Marian University undergraduate students, including students attending Saint Joseph’s College of Indianapolis and provisionally admitted (UKnight! Scholars) students. The academic success coach will assist achieving the CASE goal of increasing first-year student retention, increasing grade point average for provisionally admitted students, and decreasing in number of first year students on probation during the second semester. This position works collaboratively with many university offices and individuals, including: Academic Support Services (services for students with disabilities), Counseling and Consultation Services, Academic Engagement, Health Services, and faculty advisors. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
- Assist with the development, management, and implementation the success coaching curriculum, including programs that address academic concerns, personal concerns, and sense of belonging.
- Utilize a variety of techniques to support student success related to academic skills, transition to college, utilizing resources, navigating the college process, learning strategies, and time management.
- Assist students in developing educational plans and strategies to support student success.
- Monitor participation of UKnights! Scholars required programs.
- Create and implement assessment tools for university’s success coaching initiative.
- Assist students in navigating university policies, procedures, and resources.
- Oversee and manage Marian University’s programs for students on probation.
- Attend Saint Joseph’s College of Indianapolis team meetings and provide regular updates regarding the academic progress of students.
- Assist with the development and implementation of early intervention and retention programs.
- Connect students with on-campus resources including: tutoring, supplemental instruction, advising, health services, and Counseling and Consultation Services
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree required.
- Experience working in secondary or higher education, or related field.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds or who have demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for disadvantaged students.
