This position will serve as a member of the leadership team with the Director to manage the day to day operations of the Office of Accessibility Services on behalf of the students with disabilities at FSU. This position will support and assist the Department of Student Support and Transitions as well as the Division of Student Affairs in serving all students in the campus community.

Responsibilities
  • Review documentation and collaborates with students to develop an academic accommodation plan. Assist in planning, developing and implementing services for students with all types of disabling conditions including learning, ADHD, mental health, medical, mobility, hearing, visual, and others. Serves as a liaison between faculty and students. Keeps current and detailed case notes within Office of Accessibility Services student data management system.
  • Assist with the development, interpretation, and implementation of policies concerning reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities. Understand applicable policies and procedures and applies ADA/ADAAA case law as necessary.
  • Coordinate annual Disability Awareness Week events, including coordinating the campus wide committee. Assist with the student workshop series, training for faculty, staff and students on issues related to the ADA.
  • Assist with scholarship resources offered through the Office of Accessibility.
  • Assist in overseeing programs and services, which assure equal access (architectural, academic, attitudinal, and student life activities) to students with disabilities. Serves in the absence of the Assistant Dean/Director of Office of Accessibility. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in counseling or related field plus two years' experience required. Master's preferred.
  • Ability to deal with crisis and manage sensitive information.
  • Ability prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of student programs and activities
  • Knowledge principles and practices of student program planning, development, and evaluation.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities
