Job Details
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Serve as project coordinator for the web-based Data Catalog implementation at the Zucker School of Medicine and Feinstein Institutes of Medical Research. Participate in the Data Discovery Collaboration Project, a cross-institutional collaboration to index biomedical research data.
•Plan and conduct outreach efforts and instructional sessions about data management, discoverability, repositories, and publisher mandates to Zucker School of Medicine and Northwell Health research faculty, staff, and trainees, create and curate metadata for the catalog, and assist researchers with submitting descriptions of their metadata to the data catalog, supporting institutional goals of enhanced research collaboration.
•Develop rich content for LibGuides on data management, information literacy, and citation analysis and research impact in partnership with medical school and Northwell Health librarians
•Provide data lifecycle support to faculty, students, and staff through consultations and virtual reference services. Assist researchers in locating external datasets and identifying local experts.
•Provide reference and education liaison services for Long Island Jewish-Forest Hills hospital staff including expert literature searches, citation management, systematic review support, evidence-based practice initiatives, and information literacy instruction. Participate actively in the Northwell Health/Zucker School of Medicine Librarian Council for shared decision-making on library services and electronic resources.
•Collaborate with the Feinstein Institutes Center for Research Informatics and Innovation on the technical maintenance of the Data Catalog software and platform.
•Conduct in-depth publications metrics reports at the author level (individual/group/department), article level, and journal level that enhance visibility and demonstrate research impact. Utilize metrics tools such as In-Cites Benchmarking &Analytics, Scopus, Web of Science, Relative Citation Ratio, Altmetrics, and tools to visualize impact and develop customized reports to support administration, faculty affairs and recruitment, grants applications and renewals, and strategic goals of promoting academic productivity.
•Deliver workshop sessions on topics related to citation analysis and research impact, and monitor trends in both data management and research impact fields to share knowledge with researchers and library staff.
•Provide back-up support for the Academic Works institutional repository, research information management system, ORCID implementations and other projects and tasks assigned.
•Contribute to planning activities and collaborate with colleagues on projects of shared interest in line with library services goals and initiatives. Participate in professional development and scholarly activities.
Qualifications:•Bachelor’s degree required.
•Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA accredited school or a graduate level degree in a related field such as informatics or data science required.
•Proficiency in searching biomedical databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, CINAHL, and utilization of citation metrics tools.
•Demonstrated understanding of the research process and lifecycle of data used in the biomedical, health sciences, or medical education fields.
•Demonstrated knowledge of metadata standards.
•Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a diverse population of faculty, students, physicians, nurses, graduate trainees, and staff.
•Excellent analytical, interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skills. Evidence of initiative in learning new technology tools. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•Two years of professional experience working in an academic or health science library or comparative informatics research environment preferred.
•Working knowledge of data visualization software platforms preferred.
•Experience in presentation and instructional services preferred.
•Familiarity with software applications such as Python, HTML, or MySQL preferred.
