The Director of Student Conduct/Deputy Title IX Coordinator serves as a member of the Student Affairs leadership team. The Director is responsible for the administration on the college’s Student Code of Conduct, and all policies, procedures, and prevention efforts pertaining to student behavior. The Director also implements programs and practices that draw greater connection between Student Affairs and areas in which there is high student representation in order to elevate the importance of community standards and its relationship to the values of inclusion and equity. The Director manages the training for all adjudication members who assist in the decisions of policy violations. The Director also offers alternative forms of dispute resolution, when appropriate, and acts as an advisor regarding complex legal and regulatory issues in higher education. This position works collaboratively with students, faculty and administration to address behavior-related concerns on and off campus for a population of 1,600 students. The Director also directs crisis response on an on-call duty rotation.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as a member of the Student Affairs leadership team and assists in the development, implementation and assessment of student success’s mission and priorities.
  • Directs the implementation and evaluation of the college’s Student Code of Conduct and all policies, procedures and prevention efforts pertaining to student behavior.
    • Conducts ongoing reviews of the Student Code of Conduct involving key campus constituencies including faculty, staff and students.
  • Serves as the primary hearing officer for non-academic administrative student conduct cases and institutional behavioral concerns.
    • Directs the hearing board consisting of faculty, staff, and student members and provides comprehensive training and ongoing development opportunities.
  • Directs communication efforts in alignment with student success standards.
  • Collaborates with residential education to ensure consistent application of the Student Code of Conduct, including case management, sanction follow-up, and appropriate interventions.
  • Maintains effective partnerships with key departments including, but not limited to, Academic Affairs, Campus Safety, Residential Life, Prevention and Advocacy, Student Wellness, Title IX Coordinator, and General Counsel.
  • Participates in college-wide events, including residence hall openings, orientation, welcome week, family weekend and commencement.
  • Educates faculty, staff, and students by offering regular professional development opportunities that highlight community standards and its connection to the values of inclusion and equity, as well as the conduct process, where appropriate.
  • Directs crisis response in an on-call duty rotation

Title IX

  • Assists the Title IX Coordinator in the review, investigation, and resolution of all reports of sexual discrimination and sexual misconduct for faculty, staff, and students
  • Has a deep knowledge and understanding of Title IX laws and campus policies on sex discrimination and sexual misconduct
  • Assists in the investigation, management, and coordination of all Title IX complaints and the College’s response where students are involved as complainants or respondents
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience in student conduct.
  • Applied understanding of student development theory, including the impact of student behavior on student success.
  • Experience with Title IX investigations and prevention efforts.
  • Multicultural competence and a demonstrated commitment to diversity in all forms.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with all constituencies.
  • An understanding of emerging issues in higher educations, particularly in student services.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Involvement regionally or nationally in professional development associations within higher education.
  • Experience with the management teams that address student care and/or behavioral intervention.
