02-Nov-2021 Close All Job SummaryThe Center for Asian Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a non-tenure track full-time Instructor position in Asian Studies. We seek an Instructor to teach a suite of courses required as part of the Asian Studies BA, including Gateway to Asian Studies, the Senior Capstone Seminar, as well as lower and upper division courses related to the instructor’s field of specialization, with priority given to contemporary Asian social, cultural, and political issues. The position also assists with overseeing the Center’s Asia Internship Program. The successful candidate will contribute to growing the Asian Studies program and maintaining the Center’s undergraduate research publication, the Colorado Journal of Asian Studies. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience, field research, or experience living in Asia, and specializations that complement the Center’s developing strengths in South and Southeast Asia.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will BeYour normal classroom teaching assignments will include ASIA 1700 Introduction to Southeast Asian Civilizations (Spring); ASIA 2000 Gateway to Asian Studies (taught both Fall and Spring terms); ASIA 4830 Senior Seminar (Spring); ASIA 4300 Politics of Memory in Asia (Fall); and ASIA 4500 Urban Asia: Tradition, Modernity, Challenges (Fall). Additionally, as the Asian Studies Faculty Director, you will help promote the major and minor, oversee the curriculum, build community among students, and oversee the Colorado Journal of Asian Studies.
