SIUE's WE CARE Clinic is seeking applicants for a full-time Social Worker vacancy. As a member of the WE CARE Clinic interdisciplinary team, the Medical Social Worker provides professional social work services to a diverse group of clients within a university sponsored, nurse-managed clinic that integrates primary care in the clinic, and public health through community outreach, to a diverse and underserved population in the Metro-East St. Louis area. The WE CARE Clinic provides primary patient care on the SIUE East St. Louis Higher Education Campus. Advanced Practice Nurses, a collaborating Physician, a licensed clinical Social Worker, certified health coaches and Pharmacist provide full services to diverse clients in the metro-east or other local communities. This is an opportunity where your talent and passion for delivering quality community health services can make a difference for patients, team members, and the community. The Clinic serves patients of all ages, beginning with children age 2 or older.

The Medical Social Worker is responsible for performing individual clinical interventions, including on-going work with the individuals, families, and potentially small groups. The selected candidate will assess patients and their families using the biopsychosocial and spiritual model of care in conjunction with the strengths perspective to determine client eligibility for services. This position works to educate patients and families regarding available community and government services and their referral processes and serves as an advocate for patients and families in need of community, governmental or other services. The Medical Social Worker will maintain case records and prepare reports as needed that are required by either the Departments of Nursing and Social Work at SIUE as well as the Health Resources and Services Administration. Additionally, this position will supervise concentration level MSW students in field practicum placements from the SIUE Department of Social Work. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the clinic/program.

The WE CARE Clinic is open Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The University, including WECARE Clinic, is closed for major holidays including Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Thursday and Friday) and the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree from an accredited school or university in social or behavioral science or related health specialty.
2. Current state of Illinois licensure as a Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
