Qualifications

1. Doctorate degree or commensurate experience.2. Demonstrated teaching experience required including experience teaching music composition, music theory, and courses in the candidate’s related field(s) on all levels. 3. Documented growing national/international reputation as a composer.

Responsibilities

Primary duties and responsibilities to include: 1. Teaching courses in music composition and theory. 2. Teaching advanced courses in related fields based on the candidate’s area of specialization. 3. Producing rigorous creative/scholarly work commensurate with requirements for tenure. 4. Developing and sustaining novel and creative collaborations across campus. 5. Contributing to the University’s mission of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.6. Assuming an active role in the recruitment of composition students to Chapman and contributing to the academic community at large by participating in relevant Conservatory, College, and University committees.Tenure track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda for future tenure consideration and are evaluated on their scholarly/creative activity, teaching, and service.
