Summary of Duties:
The Instructional Design and Technology Coordinator is part of the ESFCOM Office of Technology team and helps support learning via the use of innovative technology solutions. Position duties include, but are not limited to: analyze instructional technology requirements, provide guidance on how to support the medical education technology needs, manage the planning, designing and implementation of educational technology and serve as a primary point of contact for faculty and students on the use and application of medical educational technology platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities:
35% Learning Resource Training and Support
- Support faculty and student use of the LMS, including uploading, auditing, and troubleshooting content
- Train and support faculty and student use of content delivery applications, including real time coaching and support in classroom settings
- Serve as a primary point of contact for faculty and students on the use and application of medical educational technology, including Poll Everywhere, Osmosis, Sketchy Medical, Explain Everything, Apple products, 3D4 Medical, media systems and services, learning analytics, and E.Flo MD (learning and curriculum management system).
- Lead technology training efforts, including developing a training schedule for faculty, students, and staff, identifying training needs, monitoring completion of trainings, receiving feedback and making adjustments as needed.
- Design and create tutorials for use of educational technology; train faculty, students, and staff as needed. Maintain digital library of training and support materials.
- Provide feedback to internal IT team regarding learning platforms, applications, hardware, and other technologies.
30% Instructional Analytics
- Collaborate across the organization to analyze and map instructional requirements to assure the delivery of high-quality technical solutions that meet education goals.
- Analyze and provide guidance on how to improve accessibility and accommodating various learning styles in courses and ensure that course materials are compliant with relevant legislation.
- Provide insights about emerging trends and industry standards for the development and delivery of courses.
- Conduct analysis of new trends/tools and make recommendations for those that should be implemented. Gather stakeholder feedback, present to appropriate committees/individuals and partner with subject matter experts to lead the implementation.
- Solicit feedback regarding implementation processes and functionality of platforms; strategize on improvements as needed.
- Prepare quarterly reports concerning learning through educational technology activities; assemble, organize, and interpret data from each learning application; present completed report to stakeholders.
30% Instructional Design
- Manage process in consultation with subject-matter experts to plan, design, and implement the use of educational technology in medical education. Translate teaching or learning needs to technical requirements.
- Create and publish eBooks, Articulate modules, websites, podcasts, or other voice-over-presentation tools and educational technology content using a range of publishing tools.
- Propose and implement instructional strategies for the delivery of an impactful and innovative flipped-classroom educational experience and coordinate appropriate classroom support with other members of the team, including student technology leads as necessary.
- Proactively support faculty with creating and presenting instructional content; edit or modify session materials to meet established criteria; advise instructors of potential problems with new and existing content; upload content into learning platforms ahead of sessions.

Required Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in communications, computer science, management information systems or other relevant field and three (3) years relevant related professional experience including experience with complex telecommunication systems or multimedia systems. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

- Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, computer science, management information systems or other relevant field.
- 3 years of experience in teaching, training, instructional design or other related field.
- Experience that demonstrates the ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with learning management system(s) or online learning platforms and/or equivalent education/experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using technology in a training capacity
- Flipped classroom and/or instruction design experience or equivalent experience.
- Experience with medical education applications and familiarity with medical school curriculum and/or equivalent education/experience.

Associate Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence Recently Announced
Dr. Lisa Guerrero was recently named associate vice provost for inclusive excellence. Guerrero has been an active advocate for diversity and inclusion since joining the WSU faculty in 2004. She is currently a professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies in WSU’s School of Languages, Cultures, and Race. She will maintain her faculty position, while serving as associate vice provost in a half-time appointment.
Dr. Guerrero will provide leadership to academic affairs in implementing WSU’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. She will help to identify and implement best practices and evidence-based approaches in faculty hiring, tenure and promotion, research support, faculty retention, teaching and mentoring, and curriculum planning. One of her first areas of responsibility will be to oversee the Racism and Social Inequality in the Americas faculty cluster hire program for Fall 2021.
