Description:

The adjunct lecturer in Digital Arts & Sciences is a temporary non-tenure track position for the Spring 2022 semester and is with The Digital Worlds Institute the University of Florida. This position is for digital designers/artists with experience in teaching at the college level, contemporary game design and art creation, game development tools expertise, and software techniques to instruct multiple class sections of courses covering areas such as Game Design, Game Art, 2D and 3D Design, and Game Development pipelines. This position would preferably be taught on-campus at the University of Florida, but is open to remote teaching.

Specifically, this position will instruct the following courses: DIG3715 Game Content Production 2 and DIG4970 Senior Project in DAS (Games Section). Syllabi can be found here.


Qualifications:

The candidate should possess a Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience. Persons in this position should have demonstrated considerable accomplishment in game art or design and development, previous experience in and a commitment to teaching digital arts and sciences at the university level or equivalent industry experience. Candidates should have excellent knowledge of asset creation and design tools such as Maya, 3DStudio Max, Houdini, Cinema 4D, Blender, Mudbox, Zbrush, Unity/Unreal game engines, Sketchfab or Marmoset, PBR (Substance) material/lighting pipelines, Photoshop, and project task management.

Preferred requirements: An ideal candidate can oversee design areas from initial game concept through to playable implementation, can produce high gameplay and visual quality bar within performance constraints, and have a passion for games. Professional industry experience in successful game development (Art and Design) pipelines, proven ability to mentor and support student achievement and career preparation, a Master’s degree in an area related to digital arts and sciences or equivalent industry experience. Other valued disciplines such as level design/layout, shader development, VFX, lighting, modular assets, character/organic modeling, node-based scripting are a plus.
