Position Summary:

The faculty will be responsible for student instruction, student advising, educational leadership, and mentoring in digital photography.

Abilities and Skills:

-Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. (Minimum)
-Working knowledge of DSLR Camera. (Minimum)
-Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator. (Desired)
-Basic understanding of graphic design principles. (Desired)
-Demonstrated ability to teach creatively and effectively. (Minimum)
-Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form. (Minimum)
-Ability to work with a diverse student population. (Minimum)
-Developed organizational skills. (Minimum)
-Ability to use technology, especially learning management systems, to enhance and assess student learning. (Minimum)


-Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography with strong background in digital photography. (Minimum)
-Coursework in graphic design. (Desired)


-Relevant teaching experience in Fine Art Photography, Photojournalism, Commercial Photography, Color Photography, and Digital Photography. (Minimum)
-Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. (Minimum)
-Coursework in or experience teaching courses in computer graphics and introduction to graphic design. (Desired)
-Experience with curriculum and course development. (Desired)
-Scholarship as evidenced by extensive exhibition record. (Desired)

Responsibilities and Duties :

-Instruct and evaluate student’s performance in the following areas: Fine Art Photography, Photojournalism, Commercial Photography, Color Photography, and Digital Photography. (Essential)
-Instruct and evaluate student’s performance in one or more of the following areas: computer graphics, intro to graphic design. (Desired)
-Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records of students. (Essential)
-Write and update course syllabi. (Essential)
-Assist with curriculum review, revision, and development. (Essential)
-Engage in continuous professional development in discipline and in instructional methodology appropriate to field of study. (Essential)
-Maintain regular office hours according to contractual guidelines. (Essential)
-Participate in outcomes assessment and program review. (Essential)
-Contribute to the betterment of the College through School and department committee participation. (Essential)
-Contribute to the betterment of the College through College-wide committee participate. (Marginal)
-Assist in maintaining stockroom and notify appropriate staff of the need for supplies or equipment maintenance. (Essential)
-Assume responsibility for laboratory safety, development, coordination, and maintenance. (Essential)

Pay Rate / Salary:

Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2021/22 academic year is $57,225 – $74,793.

Additional Information:

The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. Federal law requires all employers to verify the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires and the completion of an Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) by the candidate and the employer. Any offer of employment shall be contingent on the applicant’s timely production of required documentation to verify identity and employment authorization. If you cannot or will not be able to produce the required documentation, we cannot consider your application. If you are currently receiving an annuity from the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System, employment at Pennsylvania College of Technology may affect your annuity status.
