The WGSS department is committed to intersectional and critical approaches to the study of sex, gender, and sexuality. We seek a colleague who focuses on Women of Color Feminisms with a corollary emphasis in one or more areas (such as, but not limited to): Border Studies, Global/Transnational Studies, Decolonial/Postcolonial Studies, Immigration/Diaspora Studies, Indigenous Studies, Sexuality Studies, Disability Studies, and/or Ethnic Studies. We also seek a colleague committed to transformative feminist and decolonial pedagogies, undergraduate research, and feminist methodologies. The successful candidate will be committed to the academic success of all students and to an environment that respects and builds support for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Gender Studies, Women's Studies, Sexuality Studies, LGBTQ Studies, or a relevant discipline in the Humanities or Social Sciences required. The doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment (8/25/2022).
• Evidence of successful teaching at the university level
• Evidence of scholarly expertise in Women of Color Feminisms as well as intersectional approaches
• Evidence of success in scholarly productivity
• Demonstrated intercultural competence with diverse groups in teaching, research, and/or service
• Ability and commitment to teach core and elective courses in WGSS-including courses in the candidate's primary areas of expertise-as well as upper division electives as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• An active research program that may involve students
• Interest in conducting and/or supporting interdisciplinary curriculum, scholarship, and collaborations
• Evidence of feminist, decolonizing pedagogical approaches in teaching
• Ability and commitment to mentor students in community-based learning, undergraduate research, and preparation for professional experiences

Duties:

• Teach 3 undergraduate courses each semester
• Participate in activities serving the department, college, university, and community
• These duties typically include mentoring students, advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, participating in curriculum and program development and review, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions
• Teach general education and core courses in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, including courses in Women of Color Feminisms
• Develop innovative coursework in area(s) of expertise and in areas needed by the department
• Maintain a research program and accomplishments (including publications) that aligns with area of expertise
