Position Summary:

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in the Industrial Design area.

Abilities and Skills:

-Proficiency with Parametric Modeling (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor), Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop), Free Form Surface Modeling (e.g. Rhino). (Minimum)
-Evidence of ongoing professional development. (Minimum)
-Interdisciplinary approach to education. (Minimum)
-Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. (Minimum)
-Possession of a valid driver’s license. (Minimum)
-Certification in SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor. (Desired)
-Demonstrated understanding of team based problem solving, collaborative project development and the value of collegiality. (Desired)

Education:

-Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Fine Arts or closely related discipline. (Minimum)

Experience:

-Record of accomplishment in designing user centric products and interfaces. (Minimum)
-Medical product design experience. (Desired)
-Experience in interaction design, user experience design, and service design. (Desired)
-Previous teaching experience at the college and/or university level or in professional practice preferred. (Desired)

Responsibilities and Duties :

-Teach a full load in industrial design and related fields. (Essential)
-Engage in all elements of program related accreditation and outcomes assessment activities. (Essential)
-Work effectively and collegially with faculty from diverse disciplinary backgrounds within the Department housing the industrial design program. (Essential)
-Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students. (Essential)
-Supervise field work in industrial design, including interaction with placement sites and in-field professionals. (Essential)
-Engage in curriculum review, revision, and development. (Essential)
-Remain professionally current by engaging in development activities within industrial design and in appropriate instructional methodologies. (Essential)
-Contribute to the betterment of the College through School committee participation. (Essential)
-Contribute to the betterment of the College through College-wide committee participation. (Marginal)
-Maintain regular office hours and fulfill all other duties and responsibilities according to contractual guidelines. (Essential)

-Some local travel to field experience sites may be required.

As such, are required to use the following elements of the Learning Management System (LMS): Upload all syllabi, timely use of the grade feature, and collection of digital student work and distribution of digital course materials.

Pay Rate / Salary:

Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2021/22 academic year is $57,225 – $74,793.
