RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, BOYD CENTER FOR BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC RESEARCH

 

Regular Full-Time, Exempt, Market Range 9

The Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research in the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications and nominations for the position of Research Associate.  This is an exempt, 12 month, full-time, non-tenure track staff position.

About the Department

The Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research is a nonpartisan research hub within the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The center conducts academic research on a wide range of public policies and analyzes national and state economic trends and public policies for UT, state agencies and public and private organizations. It also analyzes and disseminates data on the demography and economy of Tennessee in conjunction with the Tennessee State Data Center.

Its mission is to research and inform conversations around the key public policy issues of the day. The Boyd Center faculty engages in important academic research across a wide range of public policy projects, including education, health, e-commerce, taxation, welfare, new technologies and labor, and engages in many sponsored projects for varied clients.

About the Position

The research associate’s role is to conduct economic research, prepare economic presentations, and maintain research databases.

Qualifications
Qualifications:

 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Business Analytics, Economics, or related field required1 – 2 years working with one of the following areas: public policy, economics, statistics, computer science, data analytics, data science, or business
 

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

    Master’s Degree in Statistics, Business Analytics, Economics, or related field preferred2+ years of experience as stated above

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

Required:

    Ability to use Microsoft OfficeData analysis skillsPresentation and writing skillsKnowledge of research project designKnowledge of economic theoryAbility to maintain interpersonal relationships
 

Preferred:

    Knowledge of SQL ServerKnowledge of database designKnowledge of time series forecasting
