Job Description:

This position requires an experienced Core Research Facility Technician. The position is responsible for DNA RNA quantification using Nanodrop, Qubit and qualification using Agilent Bioanalyzer, fragment analysis and data delivery, DNA, RNA extraction, Affymetrix array process, digital PCR analysis, single cell library construction, assist customer for the walk-up services, tracking lab supplies and other lab related works as needed. In addition, the Core Research Facility Technician III will also perform procedures in order to carry out research projects for client within and outside of UF at Gene Expression & Genotyping group of the Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research Genomics Division.

Performs qPCR and digital PCR and related lab work, such as DNA/RNA extraction and cDNA synthesis. Efficiently and accurately delivery the data to customers.

Process samples and operate instruments associated with 10X Genomics single cell study. Provide customers with a quick turnaround time for those services with high efficiency and accuracy.

Process samples for 16s metagenomics and related lab work. Efficiently and accurately delivery the data to customers.

Process Axiom Array plates using the Gene Titan Multi-channel Instrument and the Biomek FXp Automated Workstation. Efficiently stagger multiple plates if needed. Analyze plate data using the Axiom Analysis Suite and provide customer with the plate data and QC files.

Performs DNA/RNA extraction, Nanodrop and Qubit assay, Bioanalyzer/Tapestation runs, and explain the data to customers as needed.

Provide Lab support. Duties may include: acquiring new technology, writing up SOPs, assisting customers with walk-up services, training customers on how to use the instruments, communicating with customers in professional manner, and monitoring lab supply inventory, and ordering supplies

Expected Salary:

$38,900 - $40,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

BA/BS in related scientific field required with hands-on experience in basic laboratory and scientific methods. Optionally, 4 years of experience in science related field with at least 3 years in core specific applications. Research-based experience preferred. Core or technology specific licensure and/or certifications where applicable. Additionally yearly certificate and compliance training if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with operating 3730 DNA analyzer, BioRad digital PCR and Agilent Bravo automation System
- Previous experience in customer service.
- Knowledge of and experience working with and maintaining laboratory equipment/supplies
- Ability to learn new laboratory procedures rapidly
-Detail oriented and able to maintain accurate lab records as well as handle data efficiently
-Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate projects
-Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with employees and customers
-Ability to accept constructive criticism from supervisor
-Self-motivated, positive individual
