Job Summary

The Associate Director of Career Analytics and Field Experiences oversees the campus-wide Field Experience Program including setting procedures and communicating policies for field experiences such as internships, co-ops, and practicums, and will also oversee the collection and analysis of all career-related data to support the goals of the campus-wide career and professional development. The Associate Director will serve as the main point of contact for students and parent in all matters related to Field Experience and will collaborate with the Associate Director of Employer Engagement to identify relevant experiences and communicate those opportunities to students. This position will report directly to the Associate Provost for Career and Professional Development and will work in collaboration with the Career and Professional Development Hub staff, the eight campus-wide Career Centers, the Alumni Association, and the University Office of Institutional Research.

Essential Functions

Field Experience Duties

  • Establishes field experience policies and processes that are consistent and equitable across the campus, but also allow for programmatic differences and requirements within each college.
  • Supervises and trains Field Experience staff.
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director of Employer Engagement and the UMass Alumni Association to provide culturally responsive, diverse, equitable and inclusive field experiences such as internship, cooperative education opportunities, practicum, and other types of relevant experiences.
  • Effectively communicates field experience opportunities to students through social media, orientations, workshops, webinars, email and in-person advising.
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director of Employer Engagement to organize and execute a “Best Practices in Field Experience” handbook and presents information at employer conference.
  • Markets opportunities to students through social media, Handshake, webinars, presentations and through in-person advising.
  • Serve on related committees.

Data Analytics Duties:

  • Oversees the collection and analysis of data related to both full-time and internship/co-op placement.
  • Synthesizes information and reports key findings that will drive strategic decision-making.
  • Shares data with stakeholders through scholarly endeavors such as visually appealing reports and presentations.
  • Provides college-specific accreditation support through the collected data.
  • Reviews gaps in data and recommends changes to processes/procedures in order to better perform data analysis and deliver results.
  • Maintains proficiency and continuously develops expertise in new developments in the reporting and analytics field; Contributes to the evaluation of vendors and current analysis tools.
  • Trains Career Center staff in the use of data analytics dashboards.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Information Technologies and University Analytics and Institutional Research to define parameters for career-related data collection campus-wide.
  • Provides operational support to the Director of the Career Hub, Director of the Mount Ida Campus Career Programming, and the Associate Director for Employer Relations.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor's degree with at least two years of experience in data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with spreadsheets and databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data analytic dashboards.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop content for social media and track customer usage.
  • Self-motivated with a strong orientation for customer service and the ability to explain sophisticated technical concepts to all levels of colleagues.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, empathy, listening skills, and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Experience using Handshake software.
  • Experience using FileMaker Pro database.
  • Experience creating marketing media including video production.
  • Experience using web content management software such as Drupal.
