- Works directly with the DFA of the department to oversee and strategize around departmental operations.
- Close collaboration with the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs and Strategy in leading Departmental strategic planning processes
- Partnering with the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs and Strategy to prioritize and execute strategic initiatives, including the 2021 Department of Psychiatry Clinical Strategic Plan
- Identifying metrics, collecting and analyzing data, and developing data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions and change. Work with departmental resources to accomplish these tasks as necessary.
- Creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines. Collaborate on these tasks with the department’s Project Management Office.
- Oversee and direct the PMO to determine priorities within the department and assign appropriate resources. Assess resources needed in PMO as strategy in the department evolves. Identify needed resources and present proposals and financial plans as indicated.
- Oversee the Office Manager who manages space planning, leases, procurement, and IT needs in the department, oversees administrative assistants and the JIRA team. Act as expert in procurement and contracting to assist those teams as necessary.
- Work closely with DFA to understand the direction of the department, finances, and priorities for each division. May act as DFA’s delegate for operations and strategy.
- Delegating tasks to faculty and staff best positioned to complete them
- Networking and partnering with key organizations across the institution, community, and state
- Representing the Department of Psychiatry at stakeholder and partner meetings
- Rapidly consuming, assembling, and communicating information to the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs and Strategy
- Collecting, analyzing, and presenting data using Excel and other data management and dashboarding software
- Serving as the point of contact for teams engaged in planning and implementing strategic initiatives
- Communicating with executive leaders to keep the project aligned with Departmental goals
- Performing quality control on projects throughout development to maintain the standards expected
- Stay abreast of project timelines and work with stakeholders to adjusting schedules and targets on projects as needs or financing for the projects change
- Creating and presenting reports, including progress reports
- Work with DFA to create financial analyses and budget preparation
- Leading meetings and/or compiling content and presentations for meetings
- Maintaining open communication with all stakeholders in strategic planning and execution
- Contributing to the overall mission and vision of the University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry
- Leveraging resources such as grants / endowments / foundations / philanthropy
- Working with other Department directors and administrators to ensure that operations guidelines and processes support and advance the mission and vision of the Department, including the provision of excellent patient care
- Collaborating with Departmental committees, including the Quality committee, Professionalism committee, and others
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business administration, or other relevant fieldGreater than 4 years of experience in role(s) focused on healthcare (ideally psychiatry and behavioral sciences) related strategy, project management, research, design, operations, and quality improvement processesAt least 1 year of leadership experienceDemonstrated success in strategic planning and execution of strategic initiatives
- Master’s degree in healthcare, business administration, or other relevant field5-10 years in an academic healthcare leadership positionExperience partnering with executive leadersDemonstrated success with grant writing and attainmentDemonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion including culture change initiatives in this areaDemonstrated success in promoting and managing growth within a hospital or clinical academic institution, including programmatic developmentDemonstrated success in collaborating with interdisciplinary teamsExperience with healthcare advocacy and policy reformKnowledge of healthcare billing and coding rules and regulationsExperience with human needs analysisContract negotiation skillsKnowledge of Mental Health Parity laws with proven history of advocating for enforcementHealth economy experience
