The research in the Schwartz/Yang Lab focuses on understanding how environmental stimuli affect health through genetic and epigenetic mechanisms. State-of-the-art techniques, including next generation sequencing, CRISPR genome editing, primary cell culture and transgenic animal models are used to accomplish these goals. We are looking for an individual interested in developing skills in functional genomics. This individual will work on projects that use multi-omic analysis of bronchoalveoalr lavage (BAL) cell samples from patients with berylliosis and sarcoidosis to identify key targets for understanding disease biology, developing biomarkers of disease, and identifying novel therapeutic targets. This individual will work on both computational analysis of single cell and bulk omic datasets, in a team setting, and laboratory validation of the multi-omic models using CISPR-dCas9 tools in cell culture. This individual will work under the mentorship of Dr. Ivana Yang.Examples of Work Performed:
Salary and Benefits:
- Validation of findings from multi-omic models by targeted sequencing (DNA methylation, chromatin accessibility and transcriptome) on the Illumina MiSeq platform.
- Functional validation of findings from multi-omic models by using CRISPR-dCas9 tools to manipulate methylation, chromatin accessibility and transcriptome in cell culture.
- Analysis of single cell and bulk epigenomic and transcriptomic datasets, in collaboration with other team members.
- Application of multi-omic integration methods, in collaboration with other team members.
