School of Medicine, Department of Otolaryngology has an opening for a full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow to investigate the impact of aging on the peripheral vestibular system.

An NIH R01-funded post-doctoral position is available in the department of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery in the Rennie lab at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, Colorado.

Currently there is little known about mechanisms underlying vestibular dysfunction during aging. Experiments will investigate the properties of vestibular hair cells and associated afferent neurons in aging rodents. This position will be based primarily in Dr. Katie Rennie’s lab as part of a collaborative effort with Dr. Anthony Peng’s lab. Ideal candidates are highly motivated and articulate team players.

The department of Otolaryngology has a T32 training grant with ample training opportunities and support for post-doctoral fellows. Successful applicants will join a team of highly collaborative investigators and be part of a wider community of scientists and clinician scientists with common interests in auditory and vestibular systems at the University of Colorado Anschutz, home to a vibrant new medical campus. The location provides easy access to downtown Denver and also to world class ski resorts and year-round outdoor activities in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $53,760 - $63,036 (Levels 0-6). Program funding is for five years and a commitment to the project of at least two years is expected.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:

  • MD or PhD in Neuroscience, Neurophysiology, Cell Biology, Bioengineering or a similar field
Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in patch clamp electrophysiology, rodent handling, inner ear biology, immunohistochemistry and/or surface electrode recordings are preferred.
