Work Conditions: Work is primarily indoor and sedentary in nature.

Duties of Position: Assists the underrepresented adult population, including English as a Second Language, Developmental Education, and other students at the pre-college level to navigate the Harper College processes. This position develops sustainable processes within current Harper College enrollment, financial assistance and advising models which result in successful completion outcomes for this target population; both into Integrated Education and Training (IET/ICAPS) models and other appropriate programs. Guides students through the enrollment process as they navigate College procedures, and provides coaching/mentoring for students in Integrated Educational Training (IET/ICAPS) cohorts. 

Assists the AED/CNSO Director in developing sustainable pathways for underrepresented adult students transitioning into College enrollment and programming.

Collaborates with enrollment staff (Admissions/ One Stop/Advising/Financial Aid/Foundation/Student Engagement) to create clear, sustainable paths to success for the target population. Works closely with Admissions staff for Adult Engagement to market the IET/ICAPS options throughout the district.

Collaborates with Financial Aid, and Foundation to direct students toward resources, including distribution of the HSE and ELAT graduate and HSE Distinguished scholarships.

Supports the Alternative Credentialing Pathway to high school completion program. 

Recruits from area’s (including D211/214/American Jobs Centers) adult education or underprepared adult students for participation in IET, certificate, or degree programs by developing both internal and external communications, publicity, and responding to student inquiries.

Works with AED/CNSO Staff to follow up with qualified students ready for transition to College.

Serves as a liaison between AED/CNSO and college credit/career programs, as well as student services as they relate to the transition to college credit.

Provides career direction and guidance for current, and potential students. Makes recommendations for enhancements in stacked career pathways and IET’s (i.e. digital literacy, math review, ESL assistance).

Assists in the management of the HSE and ELAT graduate scholarship funds with the Financial Aid Office.

Assists students in locating and using educational, career, and vocational information.

Develops and maintains communications with instructional faculty to ensure success of student outcomes and goals; including determining eligibility for programs.

Refers students to transitional services (i.e. housing, transportation, childcare, and other supportive services) as needed.

Develops and maintains mechanisms to track student participation and performance in accordance with Student Advising systems in order to evaluate efforts and improve effectiveness.

Maintains current with national models of adult transition through involvement at state and national levels.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in education, communications or related field required.

Experience Requirements: Minimum three years experience working with students and families with less than college level educational backgrounds and multi-cultural backgrounds.
