The School of Architecture fosters integrative and innovative design in preparation for architectural practice. Students develop critical thinking skills and knowledge through exposure to historical and theoretical foundations, emerging technologies, interdisciplinary research, community engagement, and ethical responsibilities of design.
Instructor in Architecture: This is a full-time instructor position on a 12-month renewable contract, with an initial three-year term, and will begin in August 2022. The position is not tenurable but is promotable. This position has teaching and service requirements. The position has no research requirements.
The successful candidate:
will teach a combination of design studio courses and lecture courses, for a total of 27 credit hours for the year, that shall be distributed between the fall, spring and summer semesters.
will serve as Coordinator for the Lower Division of the Architecture program, and will oversee all 1000 and 2000 level Architecture courses.
is expected to work with the Director and Associate Director of the School of Architecture to develop a plan for better coordination and integration between the lower and upper division programs, with a particular emphasis on representational and communication skills.
Candidates for this position must have a terminal degree (e.g. M. Arch, M.S. or a PhD) in their area of specialization and experience in teaching, research, design, and/or professional work. Professional architectural licensure in a U.S. jurisdiction is preferred. All candidates must have the terminal degree at the time of application.
The successful candidate:
• must have experience teaching and developing lower division design studio curriculum and must be
able to provide instruction in introductory digital media including: Adobe suite, SketchUp, AutoCAD,
Revit, and Rhino.
