Assistant Professor of Art in Graphic Design - Motion

The University of Memphis Department of Art is seeking a tenure-track faculty member committed to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses with a primary focus in motion graphics, with strong experience in animation, 3-D modeling and visualization, projection, AR and VR. The candidate will be responsible for teaching three courses per semester and should have knowledge of current and emerging technologies in new media and have a strong background in design theory and history. Strong consideration will be given to candidates who also demonstrate knowledge and sensitivity to design aesthetics and typography. Other duties will include advising graphic design majors, developing curricula, overseeing student internships, engaging in professional activities, and participating in department and college-wide service. The accomplishments of candidates for this position must reflect their commitment to working with an inclusive student population, and their ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural academic goals of the university.

Candidates must hold an MFA/MGD/MDes or appropriate terminal degree and should be professionally active with a record of creative achievements. Previous teaching experience at the college level is preferred. Candidates must be proficient with the Macintosh platform and current/emerging software and programming languages for creating new media.
