- Draft timelines for the submission and review of intramural funding programs
- Draft appropriate requests for applications (RFAs) for new programs and revise existing RFAs to meet evolving needs and priorities
- Work with the Associate Director for Basic Research or other faculty lead to identify a diverse roster of reviewers appropriate for the proposals received
- Schedule scientific review meetings, coordinate reviewer assignments and document the minutes for the meetings
- Communicate the results to applicants and other stakeholders
- Provide direction to the Cancer Center’s finance staff on the establishment of speed types for awards and define the funding sources for those speed types
- As necessary, work with Grants and Contracts and/or Procurement to establish appropriate funding mechanisms for awards issued to investigators external to CU AMC
- Monitor the use of the funds in coordination with assigned post award accounting staff
- Identify, collect and track the outcomes of each pilot award and the return on investment (ROI) for each intramural program by establishing standardized processes and timeframes for collecting information from awardees
- Analyze and report on the outcomes to leadership, development staff and donors
- Develop dashboard-style reporting to track the strategic goals of the Cancer Center with respect to intramural funding programs
- Where reasonable and as appropriate, this position will be expected to develop and implement more consistent and unified structures across various programs to increase the administrative efficiency of the programs
- Identify, collect, and track members’ publications in a manner that facilitates required reporting for the P30 Cancer Center Support Grant and other grant mechanisms
- Work with the Assistant Director of Research Administration and other subject matter experts to develop efficient collection and coding processes to facilitate real-time reporting of new publications to Cancer Center leadership, stakeholders, and members at large
- Ensure accurate identification of Center members, programs, inter- and intra-programmatic collaborations, external collaborations, use of shared resources, and linkages to programs/activities of interest to Cancer Center leadership
- Facilitate review of the data by Program Leaders for cancer relevance and maintain records of the review and decisions made
- Manage the resulting dataset across reporting periods in EndNote, or other appropriate database, and develop queries to facilitate reporting required by grants and/or as requested by leadership
- Ensure publications are compliant with NIH Public Access requirements, as appropriate
- Coordinate with the Cancer Center’s Assistant Directors (Finance, Operations and Research Administration) and Finance Manager to develop consistent administrative processes to identify and track investments made by Center leaders
- Work with the Assistant Directors and other Center leaders to identify key metrics of value for each type of commitment (recruitments; program support; investigator-initiated trials; etc.)
- Identify the data elements that will support those metrics
- Participate in the design and development of administrative systems and databases to facilitate data collection and reporting
- Analyze the data collected and developing reports and dashboards for leadership on the outcomes of key investments
- Disseminate announcements and coordinate with the Vice Chancellor for Research office regarding which officer will serve as the lead for the review process
- Work with the Assistant Director for Research Administration and the Associate Director for Basic Research to assess current processes for efficiency and transparency; and identify opportunities for improvements
- Work with the Assistant Director for Research Administration and other experts to develop a standardized database structure to track submissions, selections made by Cancer Center leadership, the resulting proposal and the outcome of the proposals submitted
- Coordinate processes run by the Cancer Center and support the Associate Director for Basic Research efforts to identify and engage reviewers and communicate results back to applicants
- Provide letters of support as required by the funding mechanism
- Connect investigators selected for opportunities to administrative support for the official routing and submission of their proposal as necessary
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, management, public administration, database administration, communications, economics, statistics, data management, systems analysis, programming, psychology or related field
- At least 3 years of experience working as a Program Coordinator with responsibility for the development, implementation, and administration of a research-focused program
- Three years or more experience as a Program Manager
- Work experience in an academic research setting
- Experience with Smartsheets, Tableau and/or RedCap
- Experience in developing administrative structures to support the management and oversight of programs including the collection of outcomes and other results-focused data
- Experience with developing databases involving relational tables, including ad hoc query development and report writing
- Self-starter with a proven ability to organize and follow through on multiple complex tasks and projects simultaneouslyAbility to analyze data and identify various options for presenting summary dataPresent and maintain a professional, polished, and positive demeanor/disposition while working with internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic, high-paced environment
