Psychology Visiting Assistant Professor
Visiting faculty are employed by the university to teach or perform research for a limited time. This is a non-tenure track, temporary position. Service or research may be expected.
The College of Education and Professional Studies currently has 100 full-time and over 100 part-time faculty organized in seven departments. The college offers 23 undergraduate majors and 28 graduate majors. All teacher education programs are CAEP accredited. Other programs are recognized at the state and national levels with accreditations by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the American Dietetic Association (ADA), the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR), and the Oklahoma Educational Quality and Accountability Commission (OEQA). Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
Teaching; research; departmental/school, college, and university services is expected. This position is for the 2022 Spring semester only.
An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor.
An earned master's degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Assistant Professors must have completed all requirements in a doctoral program at an accredited or internationally recognized institution or completed a non-doctoral terminal degree program requiring a minimum of 60 graduate hours.
Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate (master's level) courses in research and specialty areas and other services courses such as General Psychology, Psychological Statistics, and Social Psychology as needed. Additional responsibilities include involving students in research, serving on committees, and advisement. UCO is a metropolitan university with a focus on undergraduate education and scholarship.
