Position Description:
Working under the direction of the Fabrication and Electronics Lab Manager, the incumbent will assist faculty, teaching assistants, staff, and undergraduate and graduate Design Media Arts students working in the Fabrication and Electronics Lab during class and open lab times. Other major duties include maintenance of tools and lab equipment; ordering, receiving, and stocking of lab supplies; maintenance of safety procedures in the lab; and helping to manage the day-to-day operations of the Fabrication Lab laser cutting service. May work on lab infrastructure, research projects, and special projects as assigned.

The incumbent should have basic knowledge and experience with CNC machines, laser cutters, and 3D printers, as well as woodshop tools and safety knowledge. Basic or more advanced experience with multimedia construction techniques for sculpture and design (including mold making, furniture making, jig-making, casting, sewing, etc.); 3D software such as Fusion 360 or Maya; and electronics and microcontrollers is a plus. Strong organizational skills and an eye for safety are important requirements.
