Description
The Senior Research Associate within the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences in the College of Public Health will provide full-time support to carry out NIH-funded grant studies and other research projects/activities of Dr. Heather Gardiner, the principal investigator. The position will provide autonomous, day-to-day, senior level oversight and coordination of complex research studies.

Specifically, duties will be to: serve as liaison with internal and external contacts, including Institutional Review Boards and funding agencies; develop and implement study protocols (i.e., recruitment, fidelity, data collection); develop recruitment materials (i.e., emails and flyers); coordinate and facilitate study activities across multiple study sites and travel to sites as needed; supervise and direct activities of other professional and administrative staff; create and maintain study files and meeting notes; maintain necessary IRB approvals; oversee budget and expenditures; and, assist with reports, and manuscript and grant development. Perform other duties as assigned.

This position will complete tasks independently, with a high degree of accuracy, and in a timely fashion. S/he must be able to apply in-depth technical research knowledge and experience and use independent judgment to make complex decisions within broad parameters of the studies in her/his portfolio. S/he must be able to supervise, assign and direct work, monitor students and other professional and administrative staff, and provide ongoing training and feedback. This position requires excellent organizational skills in the areas of data flow, site and staff management, computer systems administration, and all aspects of project development to ensure all projects are completed in a timely fashion. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or social scientific field with at least 4 years of progressive experience in a scientific research setting. Master’s Degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Required Skills & Abilities:
* Experience identifying and engaging with community partners for research purposes.
* Experience organizing and facilitating meetings of stakeholder groups.
* Experience designing and implementing study protocols.
* Experience recruiting and retaining diverse participants.
* Understanding of and experience with qualitative and quantitative research and data analytic methods, including focus group interviews and surveys.
* Proficient in use of relational databases for participant tracking (RedCAP).
* Proficient in qualitative data analytic (MaxQDA) and statistical software (SPSS, SAS, Stata, R).
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other professional software.
* Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate professional and administrative staff, as well as   provide ongoing training, performance evaluation and feedback.
* Experience disseminating findings of research in a variety of formats (manuscripts, oral presentations, poster presentations).
* Experience developing applications for internal and external funding.
* Experience generating mid-year, year-end, and final reports to funding agencies.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
* Ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and program participants.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under deadlines.
* Knowledge of Federal and State regulations and ethical guidelines related to human subjects research in a biomedical setting.

Preferred:
*Experience working with African American and Latinx populations.
* Proficient in Spanish.
* Knowledge of organ donation and transplantation, including living kidney donation.
* Progressively increased work experience and responsibility in research design and management.

This is a grant funded position.
