Candidate will be expected to carry out the statutory and regulatory duties of a Navigator including: maintaining expertise in eligibility, enrollment, and program specifications including that of Medicaid and CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) in addition to the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace; conducting public education activities to raise awareness about the Exchange; providing information and services in a fair, accurate, and impartial manner; facilitating selection of a QHP; providing referrals to any applicable office of health insurance consumer assistance or ombudsman established under Section 2793 of the Public Health Service Act to address consumer grievances, questions, or complaints about their health plan, coverage, or a determination; and providing information in a manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate and accessible to individuals with disabilities. Candidate will be required to be fingerprinted and background checked after completing a minimum of 20 hours of an HHS-developed training program and passing an exam to ensure appropriate understanding of relevant Exchange-related information prior to beginning Navigator work.This position involves some local and statewide travel.DUTIES:
- Assist consumers with their application and enrollment into the federal Health Insurance MarketplaceAssist consumers with troubleshooting application issues, submitting an appeal, making application changes, and making referrals to Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) (as needed).Assist with community-based outreach for the federal Health Insurance Marketplace and will provide direct and ongoing communication, training, and technical assistance for engaging and sustaining outreach efforts and increasing program retention in communities.
- This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in office or administrative support or in research support. College education may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.
- Experience working with the general community. Experience working with clients and customers. A Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work or other related fields.
