The Faculty of Law is one of the oldest professional faculties at the University of Toronto. Today, it is one of the world's great law schools. The Faculty’s richacademic programs are complimented by its many legal clinics and public interest Programs. The Faculty of Law is housed in the elegant, state-of–the-art Jackman Law Building alongside two historical building, Flavelle House and Falconer Hall, on the St. George Campus in downtown Toronto.

Your opportunity:

The JD Academic Programs Officer provides support to the Faculty of Law's Associate Dean JD and the Office of the Associate Dean JD.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Applying and interpreting policies and procedures in decision-making independently
  • Creating and/or editing original, published content and materials
  • Overseeing day-to-day servicedelivery requirements and operational needs
  • Creating and maintaining procedures and guidelines
  • Advising staff on program curriculum change policies and procedures
  • Ensuring that procedures and/or guidelines are followed
  • Keeping well-informed on changes to courses, program requirements, policies and procedures
  • Determining work priorities based on knowledge of deadlines
  • Preparing expense reimbursements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years directly related experience in a senior and/or executive support role, preferably in an academic environment
  • Demonstrated experience handling matters of a confidential and sensitive manner
  • Knowledge of the University environment and it's policies and procedures
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and competing deadlines
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated tact & judgement
  • Ability to work under the pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently andas a team member
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, and explain, complex policies and procedures
