The Schiff Center for Liver Disease at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Research Support Specialist to be responsible for assisting the department’s regulatory compliance efforts and manage assigned studies’ per protocol on patient recruitment, including informed consents, data collection, sample collection, sample processing, shipping study specimens, creating and maintaining study logs, filing, assists with the preparing for monitor visits and FDA audits. Performs phlebotomy duties. This is a full-time regular position. Flexible hours may be needed to accommodate the needs of the study/department - some evenings and weekends. Travel to national meetings and trainings may also be required.

  • Understands clinical protocols (i.e. Phase I to Phase IV), associated study specifications and develops effective recruitment accordingly.

  • Prescreens and evaluates candidates for study participation.

  • Recruits and gathers medical records, prepares for new incoming studies by verifying the inclusion and exclusion criteria.

  • Enrolls participants into the study by obtaining informed consent, conducts interviews and questionnaire completion with research participants according to detailed procedures and guidelines.

  • Completes required forms during the initial evaluation: demographic form, intake form, database consent form, releases of information, etc. and reviews the criteria for the studies.

  • Updates and maintain patient database. Assists with the implementation of overall recruiting strategy for clinical studies/trials.

  • Visits appropriate referral sources (i.e. hospitals, clinics, etc.) to market clinical studies/trials and conducts face-to-face screenings and assessments to determine eligibility.

  • Answers shared phone-line, call patient concerning appointment or result, responds to email communication promptly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

  • Good interpersonal skills, excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.

  • Excellent skills in English are required. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

  • Bilingual (Fluent English and Spanish) preferred.

  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks, plan proactively, and accomplish goals using defined instructions and procedures.

  • Knowledge and skill with word processing, spreadsheets, database completion, and e-mail computer software applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
