The Clemson University College of Education seeks highly qualified candidates to fill a full-time faculty position in the Athletic Leadership program at the rank of lecturer. This 9-month appointment will begin fall 2022 and has a special focus on coaching and administrative development in intercollegiate athletics. The Athletic Leadership program at Clemson University is a highly student-centered, fully online program that focuses on leadership and ethical development for coaches and administrators in educational settings and includes an undergraduate minor and Master of Science graduate degree. Courses for each program are offered in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. As athletic leadership is an emerging field, interested candidates without a terminal degree who have significant experience in collegiate coaching or administration are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in collegiate athletics and experience teaching in higher education. Clemson University is interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service.   • Teach online courses in the MS in Athletic Leadership program
  • Advise master’s degree students
  • Assist in recruiting potential students
  • Direct and mentor student research by serving on research committees
  • Provide service to the program, department, college, and university

Qualifications:

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree work and direct experience within the field of intercollegiate athletics
  • Evidence of and/or potential to develop a strong record of scholarly productivity in intercollegiate athletics and/or higher education
  • Active participation and service in national, regional, or state professional organizations in the areas of education and intercollegiate athletics (e.g., NCAA, NASSH, AERA, ASHE, NAASM) or willingness to provide such service
  • Experience using online course delivery formats
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in higher education, leadership, or a related field with experience in athletic administration and/or student athlete development, or significant experience with coaching and/or intercollegiate athletic administration
    • Candidates within 12 months of the completion of their terminal degree are encouraged to apply
  • Experience teaching graduate courses
  • Research agenda focused on intercollegiate athletics
  • Experience monitoring graduate student degree completion
  • Direct experience with intercollegiate athletics or student athlete development

Candidates will also be required to meet with the search committee, EOLD department chair, and Dean George J. Petersen.
