The Department of History in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has an opening for a part-time Lecturer position, to teach History courses in spring 2022. This positon will be supervised by the History department chair. The History Department, located in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has 14 rostered faculty, including 10 tenured or tenure-track faculty members. We have approximately 100 undergraduate majors and 35 MA students. We are committed to inclusive excellence in our teaching, mentoring, and programming. The department is dedicated to increasing the diversity of our community and our curriculum.

Position Emphasis:

This Denver Campus posting is for a 2022 Spring Academic Term lecturer position teaching a lower-division online course on World History since 1500, an upper-division online course in Medieval European History, and an upper-division and graduate-level online course in Modern British History. The candidate hired for this position will be eligible for future temporary, non-tenure track positions and will teach no more than two courses per semester. Future appointments will be part-time (less than 50%) and will be made semester-by-semester, depending on the needs of the department and subject to budgetary approval.

 

Range

The hiring rate (or budgeted rate) for this position has been established at $1,452 per credit hour for the (lower division online course), $1,597 per credit hour (upper-division online course) and $1,755 per credit hour (graduate level).

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in History from an accredited university. 

Previous experience teaching an online college course on World History since 1500.

Previous experience teaching a college course on Medieval European History.

Previous experience teaching a college course on Modern British History

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching the histories of Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece.
