Position Summary:

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction and advising on a full-time basis in the Economics curriculum. Primary teaching responsibilities include Macro and Microeconomics. Ability to develop courses related to the economics of healthcare, finance, or other applied areas is desirable. This person will provide vital instructional and other programmatic support to general education and applied technology programs within the School and College.

Education:

-Master’s degree in Social Studies, Education, Business, or related field from an accredited college or university. (Minimum)
-Master’s degree in Economics. (Desired)
-PhD in Economics or related discipline. (Highly Desired)

Experience:

-Two (2) years relevant successful teaching experience at the college level. (Minimum)
-Experience teaching Macro and/or Microeconomics at the college level. (Minimum)
-Experience teaching online courses at the college level. (Desired)
-Continued professional development in teaching or content related field. (Minimum)
-Experience in curriculum and course development. (Desired)
-Professional development and/or experience in delivering distance education coursework. (Minimum)

Responsibilities and Duties :

-Teach a full load (15 credits/semester) in courses within the Social Sciences and Humanities. -Specific courses include (but are not limited to): Intro and upper -level courses in economics. (Essential)
-Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate written records of student performance. (Essential)
-Write and update course syllabi. (Essential)
-Maintain regular office hours consistent with contractual guidelines. (Essential)
-Contribute to the betterment of the College through School and department committee participation. (Essential)
-Contribute to the betterment of the College through College-wide committee participation. (Marginal)
-Participate in curriculum review, revision, and development. (Essential)
-Engage in continuous professional development in discipline and in appropriate instructional methodologies. (Essential)
-Participate in course outcome assessments. (Essential)
-Engage in marketing and student recruitment and engagement activities. (Essential)

Pay Rate / Salary:

Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2020/21 academic year is $56,586 – $74,316.

Additional Information:

The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. Federal law requires all employers to verify the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires and the completion of an Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) by the candidate and the employer. Any offer of employment shall be contingent on the applicant’s timely production of required documentation to verify identity and employment authorization. If you cannot or will not be able to produce the required documentation, we cannot consider your application. If you are currently receiving an annuity from the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System, employment at Pennsylvania College of Technology may affect your annuity status.
