Detailed Description:

The Admission Communication Supervisor position will oversee and manage the marketing and communication efforts of the Office of Undergraduate Admission. This position will assist in developing a comprehensive communication plan in both print and online for a variety of audiences including prospective students, parents, and high school counselors at every stage of the enrollment cycle. Coordinates the accurate and timely execution of print and online marketing campaigns. Ensures data and analytics vital for marketing and communication efforts are constantly reviewed, evaluated, maintained and stored. Serves as a member of the Undergraduate Admission Office leadership team and assists in devising and actualizing strategies that will lead to accomplishing enrollment goals. Assist with local travel and admission counselor responsibilities as needed. Supervision received: Receives general supervision from Assistant VP of Enrollment Management, Director of Admissions, and Associate Directors of Undergraduate Admission. Supervision exercised: Direct supervision of social media and marketing intern(s). Will also provide guidance and directions to members of the admissions staff who assist with admission marketing related activities.

Develop, Plan and Execute Admission Publications:

Will work with Director, Associate Directors, and University Marketing to develop, plan and execute admission publications for each enrollment cycle.

  • This would include, but is not limited to, the admission viewpoint brochure, welcome folder, yield brochure, parent pieces, financial aid pieces, transfer and international brochures, post cards and any other print pieces used during the recruitment and yield cycles.
  • Prepares and maintains admission presentations conducted by the counseling team including the daily admission information sessions, those for parent nights and college application workshops and all other recruitment and yield presentations.
  • Manage and Keep Current all Information relevant to the Admission’s Office Online Presence:

    With the assistance of an admission staff member, this position will: oversee and ensure that the admission website is consistently updated; ensure that links and pathways to other key offices’ sites remain active on the admission website and collaborate with campus wide web teams/ committees.

  • Develop and oversee an online communication plan that aligns with the recruitment and yield strategies deployed by the admission office.
  • Develop contents, update and coordinate the filming of admission recruitment videos
  • Maintain an online communication calendar to ensure timely campaigns.
  • Manage the MySanDiego portal to ensure that it is consistently updated during application, admission and yield enrollment stages.
  • Develop and strengthen partnership with the marketing specialists for the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business and the Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering.
  • Manage Admission Social Media Outlets:

    Will hire and supervise one or more social media interns to develop content, post current information, monitor sites (e.g Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube etc.) to coincide with the admission communication plan and prepare relevant statistics for the leadership team. This will include collaborating with other enrollment office social media contacts on content, timing, and scheduling of campaigns.

    Develop and Manage the Communication Plans Associated with External Vendors:

    Will work with the external vendors such as Ruffalo Noel Levitz on student search, Cappex on our campaigns, Carnegie Communications, Chegg, Raise.Me, CollegeWeekLive, Zinch and others on content, updates and execution of our marketing strategies.

    • With assistance of member(s) of the admission staff, this position will oversee the planning and execution of all webcasts and virtual events. This includes selecting student and faculty panelists, coordinating facilities and securing the assistance of media services.
    • Will hire and supervise a marketing intern to assist with maintaining the USD’s websites/portals hosted by the vendors mentioned above.

    Assist with Admission Counseling Responsibilities:

    During peak times of the year, will assist with conducting local high visits, attending college fairs and presenting at admission workshops. When necessary, will assist serve as Counselor of the Day by conducting admission presentations, counsel prospective students/families and reach out to high school counselors.

  • Conduct presentations during major admission/yield events such as Torero Showcase, Torero Visit Day and virtual events as appropriate.

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in admissions, education, student leadership or related areas (public relations, sales/marketing, etc.)
  • Excellent written communication, public speaking and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Ability to travel (including air travel) and work nights and weekends as required
  • Strong work ethic
  • Must feel comfortable in a team-oriented, collaborative work environment
  • Knowledge of and willingness to learn and work with technology; specifically word processing environments, Adobe (or similar products), Web maintenance products, Internet navigation, CRM products, Web analytic products, databases, and e-mail correspondence
  • Knowledge of the University of San Diego and its programs
  • A valid driver’s license
