Description:

The Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of Infectious Diseases at University Health Network and Sinai Health Systems are seeking an Academic Infectious Diseases physician who will foster excellence in the academic field, teaching, and clinical practice of Transplant and Oncology-related Infectious Diseases. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor within the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto with the academic position description of Clinician Teacher. The effective start date is January 1, 2022 or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.

The major clinical responsibilities for this position will include participation as a consultant in a busy outpatient clinic (twice/week) and inpatient Transplant and Oncology ID consultation service for 26-36 weeks at both the University Health Network and Sinai Health Systems. The successful candidate will contribute substantially to postgraduate training programs in Transplant/Oncology Infectious Disease, will work collaboratively with other physicians in the Transplant and Oncology Infectious Diseases Program, and will report to the Division Director of Infectious Diseases as well as the Program Medical Director of the Ajmera Transplant Centre.

The successful candidate must hold an MD degree, have or be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Infectious Diseases and have, or be eligible for, licensure in Ontario with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Candidates with specialized training in oncology and/or transplant infectious disease will be preferred. The ideal candidate will have interest and expertise in the management of infections in immunocompromised patients, specifically in transplant and oncology patients. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated teaching experience and interest. Teaching excellence will be assessed by the presence of scholarly contributions to teaching and education as evidenced by curriculum development, experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and teaching awards. Graduate training to an MSc level (or equivalent) is required for any full time appointment to the University of Toronto Department of Medicine.

For the successful candidate, estimated remuneration will be between the range of $225,000 - 300,000 per year (fee for-service), commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will also participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
