CU Innovations has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Data Integration Program Director position.

Job Summary: Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support of research activities.  Functions include contracts and grants solicitation and administration, grant/agreement preparation, review and negotiation, regulatory compliance, sponsor communication and post and pre award management, human subject compliance, research animal management, research laboratory coordination and instruction, environmental health and safety, radiation control, hazardous materials use, disposal and training.

Program Directors are responsible for the ongoing leadership and oversight of a program or function, including the Development of strategies and processes which contribute to the University and/or campus mission and accountability for services provided.  These positions typically do not supervise others.

The Data Integration Program Director is responsible for the architecture of data pipelines to bring data into the CU Innovations Data Platform.  They will create and implement data interoperability standards that allow seamless integrations to other systems including university, hospital and third-party systems.  As part of this, they will define healthcare and data interoperability requirements, perform issue resolution, troubleshooting and coding and will interact closely with an integrated team of data scientists, data managers and subject matter experts to deliver projects that focus on advancing healthcare.

The Data Integration Program Director will report directly to the Medical Director at CU Innovations and will work closely with Innovation leadership to define specific project scope, process and deliverables.  They will collaborate with and accept guidance in achieving project goals from key experts on data science, compliance, IT and other enabling areas of expertise on the CU campus and will work closely with data and informatics experts at UCHealth as well. 

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Responsible for the architecture of data pipelines to bring data into the CU Innovations Data Platform
  • Create and implement data interoperability standards that allow seamless integrations to other systems including university, hospital and third-party systems
  • Define healthcare and data interoperability requirements
  • Perform issue resolution, troubleshooting and coding
  • Interact closely with an integrated team of data scientists, data managers and subject matter experts to deliver projects that focus on advancing healthcare
  • Work closely with Innovation leadership to define specific project scope, process and deliverables
  • Collaborate with and accept guidance in achieving project goals from key experts on data science, compliance, IT and other enabling areas of expertise on the CU campus and will work closely with data and informatics experts at UCHealth as well
  • Develop knowledge-bases, templates, and standards to ensure repeatability and quality
  • Interpret large data sets and data mining using innovative methods
  • Manage the overall integration process and timing for integration activities
  • Coordinate with team to customize integration plans that incorporate identified challenges, synergy objectives, and milestones and ensure that milestones are met, and any barriers are identified and appropriately resolved
  • Establish a regular meeting cadence to drive integration process, monitor status, and achieve proactive resolution of issues
  • Regularly evaluate and prioritize activities and integration opportunities/risks
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators in conjunction with key risk indicators
  • Ensure collaboration and information sharing among workstreams by managing relationships through transparency, effective communication, and frequent updates

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 7+ years overall data integration experience in industry-based health care data management as well as experience in academic health care environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or informatics related field and data science/management leadership experience
  • A knowledge and proficiency with healthcare interoperability and data standards  
  • Prior experience in data integration and coding
Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years overall data integration experience in industry-based health care data management as well as experience in academic health care environments
  • Master’s degree in a science or informatics related field and data science/management leadership experience
  • Advanced experience in data integration and coding

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $135,000 to $150,000. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.  

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
