Job Summary:

The Electrician reports directly to the Director of the Physical Plant. Performs moderately complex maintenance and repair work in several building construction trades. Work involves maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, stationary equipment, telecommunication infrastructure and facility monitoring and alarm systems. The position will require proficiency in the use of hand and power tools, electrical metering and test equipment and the ability to maintain records of labor and materials expended on projects. Must have a valid drivers License with a good driving record.

Minimum Qualifications:

Duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the Essential Job Functions, as well as other related duties as assigned.

Requires a minimum of four years experience on jobs leading to this, or similar jobs. A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience is preferred. Must possess a current electrical license. Ability to perform moderately to heavy physical work which may involve long hours of work while standing. Must have a valid drivers license.

Knowledge of basic HVAC and electrical construction knowledge.
Knowledge of basic computer skills.
Knowledge of basic carpentry skills.
Knowledge of workplace hazards and safety rules and regulations.
Ability to read and write English.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees and building occupants.
Must be honest, cooperative and reliable.
Most follow established College standards and policies.

Requires constant sitting, walking, seeing stooping, and bending. Requires frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects that weigh up to 50 lbs.

Work Hours:

Essential Job Functions:

1. Performs maintenance and repair work on electrical, heating, air conditioning, fire/intrusion alarm, mechanical and plumbing systems.

2. Performs inspections of electrical generators, electrical switchgear, HVAC equipment, operating machinery, appliances, fire alarm and intrusion alarm systems to ensure proper maintenance and repair.
